MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– For the second practice open to the media this week, there was no sign of junior wide receiver Jovon Durante in the West Virginia University fall camp.
Durante is rumored to be out of camp due to a death in the family, but there’s been no official word on his absence.
As the fourth day got under way, the Mountaineers wore uppers. The first two days were just helmets and now WVU is slowly transitioning into full gear.
Special teams were found kicking rugby balls but other than that they didn’t see much action.
The Mountaineers’ 30-minute practice was filled with stretching and individual drills.
Senior guard Kyle Bosch took reps at center with the second unit. He will be the emergency center this season.
WVU’s defense had several stations setup working on tackling, hitting and hustling.
The quarterbacks and wide receivers worked with offensive coordinator Jake Spavital on screen drills.
At the end of the session the first and second team offense squared off against one another in an 11-on-11 showdown, where they worked on run blocking. Beginning at the 20-yard line, the first team would take snaps and the second team would then follow suit.
