Rookie Dreamius Smith has spent most of this season on the San Diego Chargers practice squad. After placing fellow first year player Melvin Gordon on IR with a knee injury, the team signed Smith to their active roster.
During the preseason, Smith was one of the team’s leading rushers, finishing with 74 yards and one touchdown.
He was one of the last players cut at the end of the preseason. They signed him back to the practice squad on Nov. 4.
The Chargers have two games left this season. They will not make the Playoffs. Smith will serve as a backup to Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown.
In his two seasons at WVU, Smith toted the ball 183 times for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns amid the Mountaineers talented backfield.
