University of Illinois graduate transfer TJ Neal has seemingly cut his choices to West Virginia and Auburn. After graduating from Illinois the talented linebacker will have one year of eligibility left and will be able to play in 2016.
Neal visited West Virginia this past weekend where he had the chance to speak with WVU defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, ” I enjoy being in Morgantown , got the chance to meet all the coaches and talk some football with Tony Gibson.” Neal also tells me that Gibson has stated he will play at the WILL linebacker position if the Mountaineers are his choice.
Neal also tells me that he will visit Auburn before making his final decision which he says is tentatively set for February 20th.
Neal was the Illini’s second leading tackler last season with 109 tackles. Bringing him in would add much needed experience at a position decimated by graduation this past season. Neal is originally from McKeesports, PA and was recruited by Tony Gibson out of high school. He is also close with WVU assistant coach Anthony Leonard.
