Quick Hit: Stedman Bailey and Damon Cogdell have more than just Miramar and WVU ties in common

By Bob Hertzel For the Times West Virginian

Coach Cogdell

Everyone empathizes with former West Virginia University wide receiver Stedman Bailey, who was shot twice in the head last week while back home in Miami Gardens, Florida, but none quite like the Mountaineers’ defensive line coach Damon Cogdell.

Cogdell has been there before himself, too many times.

Cogdell is Bailey’s former high school coach at Miramar High School and is also a former WVU linebacker.
As a coach at Miramar, which is located in a tough area in Miami, he dealt with the shooting of a couple of players.

That would be enough, except Cogdell also has been shot, too.
