Its been a wild road for Westerville South High School (OH) offensive tackle Rob Dowdy. That road came to an end this weekend when he pulled the trigger and committed to West Virginia.

Dowdy, 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds was once committed to Pittsburgh but backed out after the coaching situation was up in the air. Dowdy was also linked to the University of Kentucky when former West Virginia offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson landed with the Wildcats.

N.C. State was also in the mix, but like Kentucky, the Wolfpack didn’t have room to add Dowdy to the class.

West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen and offensive line coach Ron Crook visited Dowdy at home last week.

The in-home visited only strengthened his opinion of WVU leading into his visit this weekend.

Dowdy makes the 22nd commitment of the 2015 class.
