MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 18, 2021) – After tallying her first career brace to lift the Mountaineers to a win over Texas Tech, senior midfielder Isabella Sibley of the West Virginia University women’s soccer team was named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
The Uxbridge, England, native put the Mountaineers on the board in the 71st minute with the eventual game winner. Sibley then added a second score to tally the brace and solidify the WVU victory in the 90th minute. With her two-goal performance against the Red Raiders, she became West Virginia’s 126th two-goal scorer all-time and second of the season.
Sibley now sits in a tie for second on the team with four goals on the season, while she also is second in points with 11 on the year. Her first goal of the match was designated the game winner, as she now co-leads the team with a pair of game-winning goals on the year.
West Virginia now prepares for a two-game road swing through the Lone Star State, beginning with a match at Texas on Thursday, Oct. 21. Kickoff at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field in Austin, is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
