STILLWATER, Okla.–Oklahoma State came from behind to defeat West Virginia 9-5 on Saturday afternoon and even the series.
Trailing 5-1, the 23rd-ranked Cowboys (19-10) used a three-run sixth and five-run eighth to fuel the comeback.
With the game tied at 5-5, Colin Simpson blasted a grand slam off reliever Sam Kessler, giving Oklahoma State a 9-5 lead.
The Mountaineers (18-12) scored five runs on eight hits. The Cowboys scored nine runs on 11 hits.
Jackson Wolf pitched seven innings for WVU. He gave up four runs on eight hits.
Kessler (1-2) suffered the loss for the Mountaineers.
WVU took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Tevin Tucker knocked in Ivan Gonzalez on a base hit to left field. Then Austin Davis hit a single to left center, scoring Kevin Brophy from second. A wild pitch from Joe Lienhard allowed Tucker to score and gave the Mountaineers a three-run advantage.
In the top of the fourth, Kevin Brophy hit a two-run blast to give WVU a 5-0 lead.
Oklahoma State cut the deficit to 5-1 in the fifth as Andrew Navigato singled through the right side, plating Hueston Morrill.
The rubber match is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
