Morgantown, W. Va. – In a statement near every fan was expecting, head coach Neal Brown confirmed the worst about Taijh Alston’s injury situation.
The sophomore defensive end had surgery Tuesday morning for a torn patellar tendon and will miss the remainder of the season.
Coach Neal Brown officially addressed the injury situation during his press conference Tuesday afternoon, pointing out the sophomore’s injury came on a clean block during the road loss to Missouri Saturday.
“It’s unfortunate for him,” Brown remarked. “The block on him was fine, I wouldn’t deem it a dirty play by any means. Just one of those things that happens.”
Alston was one of the players on defense that the coaches had high hopes for, as the sophomore was one of the rising stars during spring and summer, showing improvement and skill during the victory over James Madison.
Alston will sit this season out and still has two years of eligibility to play after also having a redshirt year during his time at junior college.
