There are two West Virginia Mountaineers on the Chicago Bears roster: Kevin White and Ryan Mundy. It may be some time before we see either in action. Updates on both.
Over the past two weeks, Ryan Mundy has not practiced with a hip injury. Given head coach John Fox’s tendency to not go into full disclosure on the severity of his player’s injuries, Mundy’s injury was classified as day-to-day.
The answer came on Sunday night: Mundy will miss the entire 2015 season after the team placed in on IR per Bears sideline reporter, Zach Zaidman.
Mundy was on of the Bears two starters at safety last season. Since the John Fox regime began, Mundy found himself looking up the depth chart at the younger Brock Vereen.
Last season, Mundy led the Bears in tackles (a career high 103) and interceptions (4). One of those was a pick-six from Geno Smith.
The Bears #7 pick from this year’s NFL Draft, White, will start the regular season on the PUP list after having surgery to repair a broken left shin this past Monday. GM Ryan Pace says they are more concerned with White’s long-term health, which could signal that he also may not play this season.
