The Dugout Report: Mountaineers in the MiLB and the MLB

This week on the Dugout Report, we focus on the Mountaineers in the MiLB and the MLB from 6/9/16- 6/16/16.

Bobby Boyd- Lancaster Jayhawks, Single A Advanced (Astros)

Boyd and the Jayhawks have been on a road trip nearly all week. To start the week off Boyd was up in a 4 game road trip to Visalia in which Boyd and the Jayhawks were swept. Boyd saw action during every game in the 4 game road trip. 6/9 Boyd went 1-4, 6/10 Boyd went 2-3, 6/11 Boyd went 1-4, and 6/12 Boyd finished off the series going 1-3.  That game did not finish their road trip as they were off to Rancho Cucamongo in a 3 game series. On 6/13, Boyd went 0-3 but had 1 RBI, 6/14 Boyd went 3-6 and had 2 runs (Place info for 6/15-6/16). On 6/15 Boyd finished the series against Rancho Cucamongo going 1-3  with 2 RBI’s. On 6/16, Boyd started a series with Lancaster versus Bakersfield. Boyd went 2-6 with 1 RBI in the first game against Bakersfield for this series.

Harrison Musgrave- Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple A (Rockies)

Musgraves saw action once this week for the Isotopes and that was on 6/11 in a home game versus Las Vegas. Musgraves pitched 7.0 innings, allowed 10 hits and 3 runs but got a win for his record.

John Means-  Bowie Baysox, Double A (Orioles) 

Means saw the mound once this week for the Baysox. On 6/14 Means and the Baysox played Portland. Means pitched 6.0 innings and allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 home run, and struck out 3 batters.

Sean Carley- Charleston RiverDogs, Single A (Yankees)

Carley saw his first bit of action this season on 6/15 against Augusta. Carley pitched 3.0 innings while allowing 2 hits and striking out 2.

Corey Walter- Midland Rockhounds, Double A (Athletics)

Corey Walter saw the mound twice this week as well. Walter pitched for the Rockhounds against Corpus Christi. Walter pitched 4.0 innings and allowed 8 hits, 5 runs, and struck out 3 batters.On 6/15, Walter captured his first win of the season pitching 4.0 innings while allowing 5 hits and striking out 2 batters.

Ryan McBroom- Dunedin Blue Jays, Single A Advanced (BlueJays)

McBroom saw action all week for Dunedin. Dunedin and McBroom continued a 4 game homestand versus  St. Lucie where they won 1 of the 4 games. On 6/9 McBroom went 2-4 and had 1 run, 6/10 McBroom went 3-5, 6/11 McBroom finished the homestand going 1-4. After the homestand McBroom and the Blue Jays took a roadtrip to Charlotte for a 4 game road trip. On 6/12, McBroom went 0-4, 6/13 McBroom went 2-4 with 3 RBI’s and a home run, 6/14 McBroom went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s and a home run, while on 6/15, McBroom finished his series versus Charlotte going 0-3 in the final game. On 6/16, McBroom started a series facing Clearwater. In the first game of the series McBroom went 1-3 with 1 RBI.

David Carpenter- Salt Lake Bees, Triple A (Angles)

Carpenter saw action three times this week for Salt Lake. On 6/10 in a game versus Fresno, Carpenter pitched 1.0 innings and allowed 1 hits while striking out 2 batters. Later in the week on 6/13 Carpenter pitched 1.0 innings and allowed 1 hit while striking out 2 batters. Finally on 6/16, Carpenter pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 4 hits and 4 runs against Tacoma.

Jedd Gyorko- St.Louis Cardinals, MLB

Jedd and the Cardinals saw action multiple times this week. On 6/9 finishing a road trip to Cincinnati, Jed went up to bat 4 times and missing out on each one. After finishing up the road game in Cincinnati, Gyorko and the Cardinals went on a road trip to Pittsburgh. On 6/10 Jedd went 0-1, 6/11 went 1-4, and on 6/12 Gyorko went 0-4.
