Day six of the Twelve Days of Mountaineers feature the West Virginia women’s soccer team and their great season. Their best win of the year came against No. 11-ranked Kansas, winning, 2-1.
Stefany Ferrer-vanGinkel scored both goals for West Virginia in the seventh and 15th minutes of the game.
Enzi Broussard assisted the senior for her first goal, and Ferrer-vanGinkel split the Jayhawk defense kick her second goal into the back of the net eight minutes later.
WVU goalie Kayza Massey only allowed one goal all 90 minutes of play. Massey had only one save due to the Mountaineer defensive group shutting down the Jayhawk offense.
The only Kansas’ goal came in the 74th minute of play.
The Mountaineers were able to finish the game and end the fall season undefeated in Morgantown in the 2020.
This game was important for the Mountaineers because it set them up for a Big 12 Title game against No. 3-TCU the following week.
