It’s day two of the Twelve Days of Mountaineers! Today is about one of the many successful weekends by the WVU volleyball team this season.
On Oct. 9, the Mountaineers traveled to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the No. 10-ranked Jayhawks in a double-header series that continued into the next day.
In the first match, West Virginia won 3-2 after dramatically coming back in the fifth set. WVU was down 8-5 at one point in the deciding set, but redshirt senior Audrey Adams brought the Mountaineers back from the dead.
After Adams help tie the set, WVU won the set, 15-12, ultimately resulting in a 3-2 match win.
This marked the first time West Virginia has beaten a top ten opponent.
But the girls weren’t ready to leave Kansas just yet.
On the next night, the “cardiac” Mountaineers came back once again when down in the fourth set to force a deciding fifth set.
WVU won the set, 15-13 and the match, 3-2.
The Mountaineers were able to travel back to Morgantown with not one, but TWO wins over a top ten opponent for the first time in program history!
