West Virginia basketball jumps to number 16 in AP Poll

Sunday’s win over the formerly number two team in the country, the Ohio State Buckeyes, may be the biggest win for West Virginia basketball in the past five years. The win proved to be extremely impressive to the Associated Press, as West Virginia took a big jump up in this week’s AP Poll.

The Mountaineers shot all the way up to number 16 in the rankings with their now 11-1 record. West Virginia joins Kansas (#3) and Baylor (#6) as the only Big 12 teams in the top 20.

The Jayhawks and Mountaineers face off for the first time this season in a huge matchup this Saturday at 4:00pm. While the Mountaineers get an early look at Kansas, they will not go head-to-head with the Baylor Bears until February 15th.

Here is a link to this week’s complete AP Top 25 Poll.
