West Virginia Cruises 83-56

Jonathan Holton led the way on Sunday afternoon scoring 18 points and grabbing 15 boards as the Mountaineers cruised past Lafayette 83-56 at the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers led 39-24 at the half and never looked back.

Devin Williams added 15 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

WVU head basketball coach Bob Huggins noticed a difference in forward Jonathan Holton on Sunday.

“He slowed down,” Huggins said. “He was so fired up on Friday. He kind of got more under control. He’s capable of being a whole lot better than that.”

Jaysean Paige showed flashes of what he brings to the team scoring 16 points, while being a threat from downtown for the Mountaineers.

Overall, WVU shot 38% for the game and 24% from behind the arc.

Lafayette turned the ball over 20 times on the day compared the Mountaineers 6.

WVU won the rebound battle by 19.

West Virginia moves to 2-0 on the season. Next up is George Mason on Thursday night, part of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

The game will be televised by ESPNU and tip is set for 7:30pm.
