The West Virginia Basketball team has had a good month with the addition of PF Derek Culver into the 2017 class and this evening saw the Mountaineers get a big jump on the 2018 class with the addition of PG Jordan McCabe.
McCabe, a 6’0 175 lbs. point guard from Kaukauna (WI), committed to West Virginia over DePaul, Missouri, and Wisconsin. McCabe was offered by the WVU coaching staff while visiting the campus for their annual summer camp last August after his freshman season (14.2 PPG) and has only continued to grow as a basketball player (25.0 PPG) to the point that his nickname is the next “white chocolate” after Jason Williams.
McCabe will have 2 seasons of high school basketball to add some weight to his frame but possesses the ball handling skills and all around game (42% from 3) that Coach Huggins likes in his point guards but also has the looks of a shut down defender which is a big plus in Press Virginia.
The addition of McCabe is a big one since WVU will lose Jevon Carter and Tarik Phillip before McCabe arrives at WVU but will have James Bolden, Chase Harler, and Brandon Knapper at the position.
McCabe is rated the 3rd best prospect in the state of Wisconsin and 26th overall point guard in the 2018 class according to ESPN.
