West Virginia Lands Old Dominion Transfer Malik Curry

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – (April 8, 2021) — On Thursday night, it was reported by CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein that the West Virginia men’s basketball team received a commitment from Malik Curry.

Curry is a transfer from Old Dominion.

Curry is a 6-foot-1 senior guard from Wilmington, Delaware, who has played two seasons for ODU. In the 2020-21 season, Curry was named to the All-Conference USA team. Curry averaged 15.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals in 20 games for the Monarchs.

Against his new teammate, Dimon Carrigan, Curry recorded a season-high of 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field.

As Miles “Deuce” McBride potentially leaves for the NBA draft, this will be a good addition to Bob Huggins’ roster for the 2021-22 season.

Curry will have a year of eligibility, with the potential second year if he decides to stay due to COVID.
