West Virginia Moves to No. 22 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 15, 2021)  The West Virginia University women’s basketball team moved to No. 22 in the latest Associated Press (AP) Poll, which was announced Monday.

WVU received 119 points this week to rank 22nd and is one of four Big 12 Conference teams featured in the latest rankings.

Baylor (2-0) received 562 points and moved up to No. 6 this week, while Texas (2-0) jumped up 13 spots from in its preseason ranking and received 408 points to rank 12th. Iowa State (1-0) fell two spots this week and showed 379 points to come in at No. 14.

No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Connecticut, No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Indiana and No. 5 NC State made up this week’s top five.

West Virginia officially opens the 2021-22 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 16, when the team welcomes Saint Francis (Pa.) to Morgantown for the season opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and the contest will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
