WVU announces starting quarterback

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–West Virginia head coach Neal Brown announced that Austin Kendall will be the Mountaineers’ starting quarterback against James Madison.

Kendall shined in Friday’s scrimmage.

“It was clear after Friday night’s scrimmage in the stadium that he earned it,” Brown said.

The 6-foot-2, 221-pound redshirt junior transferred from Oklahoma in the winter. He beat out Jack Allison, Trey Lowe, Trent Jackson and Jarret Doege for the job.
