The comparisons between this years WVU basketball team and the 2010 Final Four team have continued, and quite frankly have been interesting to follow. The 2010 Mountaineers finished the regular season 24-6 ranked seventh in the final AP Top 25 regular season poll.

With two games remaining this season the Mountaineers currently stand at 22-7 and on the verge of a top 10 regular season finish. So again, the similarities continue. However, digging deeper there are obviously some differences between the two teams.

The 2010 Mountaineers worse loss that season came at the hands of UConn 73-62. The Huskies failed to make the NCAA tournament that season after finishing the regular season 17-14. UConn finished the 2009-2010 campign with an RPI of 65.

As it stands now, the 2015-2016 Mountaineers worse loss will be the 88-71 defeat to Florida in the Big 12/ SEC Challenge. However, according to USA Today bracketologist Shelby Mast the Gators are currently projected as a ten seed in the NCAA tournament.

Outside the loss to Florida the Mountaineers worse defeat came against Texas who currently sits at 20th in the most recent RPI rankings.

Currently with an RPI of 13 the Mountaineers stand to be one of only a handful of teams that has not lost a game to a team ranked outside the RPI top 50, something the 2010 team failed to accomplish.

The Mountaineers remaining games are at home against Texas Tech (23 RPI) and at Baylor (25 RPI).
