MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–After a three-hour rain delay, No. 11 Texas Tech defeated West Virginia 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Raiders (23-11) scored three runs on six hits.
The Mountaineers (22-13) were scoreless and had just two hits.
Kade Strowd (4-3) suffered the loss for WVU. He tossed four innings and gave up two runs on three hits. However, the righty walked seven batters.
Caleb Killian (5-2) pitched a complete-game for Texas Tech. He gave up two hits and struck out nine.
Tyler Doanes and Darius Hill had the only two hits for the Mountaineers.
The Red Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the fifth. Strowd walked the first two batters before Gabe Holt doubled down the left field line. Then Strowd’s afternoon ended early after issuing another walk. Ryan Bergert got Brian Klein to foul out but Cole Stillwell tagged and scored.
Texas Tech tacked on another run in the eighth on Doug Facendo’s RBI single to right field.
Despite suffering the loss WVU won the series.
The Mountaineers travel to State College to take on Penn State on Wednesday.
