The West Virginia football coaching staff added a key piece of depth to one it’s strongest units this afternoon when JUCO OL Kelby Wickline announced he was flipping from UNC to WVU.
Wickline, 6’5 275 lbs. offensive tackle from Jones County Junior College, will provide the Mountaineers staff with more depth on their offensive line and will give them an experienced option if they need it. Wickline has the ability to play on the outside as a tackle but also possess the skill set to play inside at the guard position so that alone may earn him some quality playing time next season. Wickline earned all first team MACJC honors this past season and is rated as the 8th best JUCO offensive lineman in the 2017 class.
Wickline was originally committed to North Carolina until he made a visit to WVU this past weekend and flipped his commitment this afternoon. Out of high school Wickline had signed with UTSA but went the JUCO route at Jones County where his recruitment pickup this season. Wickline held offers from Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, TCU, and Western Kentucky but has chosen to play for his father and the Mountaineers. Wickline will enroll at WVU in January and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining for the Mountaineers.
