WVU football’s Josh Sills out for remainder of season

MARTINSBURG — Redshirt Junior offensive lineman Josh Sills will miss the remainder of the season, WVU Head Coach Neal Brown announced at Tuesday’s press conference.

Sills, who is listed at 6-foot-6, 326 pounds, started at right guard the first two games of the season but missing the N.C. State and recent Kansas matchups. In his WVU career, Sills has been a two-year starter at guard, having played in 25 career games and starting 22.

“Josh Sills had season ending surgery yesterday so he will miss the remainder of the year,” Brown said. “I hate that for him but it was necessary for him, and he is recovering well.”

Brown added a possible sixth year for Sills will be discussed “down the road.”

His season ending shoulder surgery comes after WVU dodged a bullet when Sills wouldn’t miss any playing time due to a known injury during spring practice.

With playing without Sills for two games, coaches have already shifted players into the lineup and to different positions and have gotten snaps in those spots. Redshirt Junior Chase Behrndt has moved to right guard.
