The West Virginia basketball team was treated to some good news on Wednesday when forward Gabe Osabuohien was granted eligibility for the 2019-20 season.
Osabuohien transferred from Arkansas to West Virginia in August of 2019, and there was real doubt if he would be able to be eligible this season. At Arkansas in two seasons, Osabuohien played in 54 games and averaged 2.4 points to go with 2.5 rebounds a game.
“Obviously, we are all excited for Gabe and for our entire team,” coach Bob Huggins said. “Our guys were ecstatic when we got word of his immediate eligibility during practice today. He gives us another much-needed big man who can defend on the perimeter as well as play on the offensive end. We are pleased that the NCAA approved his waiver.”
Osabuohien will give the Mountaineers another quality body off the bench and should see a solid amount of playing time this season.
