Almost all of Mountaineer Nation’s attention is focused on finalizing the 2017 class but WVU got an early start this evening on the 2018 class when offensive lineman James Gmiter committed to the Mountaineers.
Gmiter, a 6’4 300 lbs. offensive tackle from Bethel Park, is the Mountaineers first commit in the 2018 class and he is a big one. Gmiter has been a stabilizing force on the offensive line and defensive line for Bethel Park but projects to be a offensive tackle for the Mountaineers. Gmiter and current Mountaineer Colton McKivitz have the potential to be forces on the outside of the WVU offensive line in the future.
After visiting Morgantown over the summer for the Mountaineers camp, Gmiter made a return trip a priority and finally made another visit in early November which sealed WVU as the school for him.
West Virginia and Wisconsin were the only schools to offer Gmiter but schools such as Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Pitt, Temple, and Toledo were beginning to show interest before his announcement this evening.
