MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–West Virginia University guard Jevon Carter has been named The Naismith Trophy Men’s Player of the Week on Tuesday.
“A guy that puts all the time that he puts in to get rewarded, he should get rewarded,” head coach Bob Huggins said. “He and James Long are in the gym far more than anyone else. It’s just great. I thought he played really well, managed the game really well.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior averaged 17 points, five assists, three steals and 3.5 rebounds last week against Baylor and Texas.
Carter played a huge role in knocking off the No.1 team in the country and the Mountaineers’ comeback against the Longhorns.
