WVU Men’s Basketball announces 2022-2023 non-conference schedule

The 2022-2023 West Virginia men’s basketball season will start on Nov. 7 against Mount St. Mary’s, the first of eight home games for West Virginia in the non-conference.

The Mountaineers will again play Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, traveling up north on Nov. 11.

West Virginia will then return home to play Morehead State on Nov. 15, followed by Penn on Nov. 18. Neither team has played at the WVU Coliseum since 1981.

Following Penn, the Mountaineers will have a week off before traveling to Portland, Oregon. The opponents for West Virginia in the Phil Knight Legacy are to be determined, but Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, are among the eight teams playing.

On Dec. 4, the Mountaineers will be on the road for the Big East/Big 12 Challenge, followed by a home game against Navy on Dec. 7.

West Virginia who traveled to UAB this year, will welcome the Blazers to Morgantown on Dec. 10. The Mountaineers will then host Buffalo on Dec. 18, and then host Stony Brook on Dec. 22 to end the year.

The Mountaineers will have one more non-conference game, as they are set to host a game in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Jan. 28.
