After an odd finish to this past season, West Virginia men’s soccer is now looking ahead to this season, as today it released its schedule for the 2021 season.
West Virginia will play 20 matches in total this fall – three exhibitions followed by 17 regular season matches. West Virginia will play at home against Duquesne and Charleston while also traveling to Saint Francis for their exhibition matches.
After those three matches, the Mountaineers are on the road for their season opener as they travel to face Robert Morris on Aug. 26.
Four days later, West Virginia will play its home opener against rival Pitt in the Backyard Brawl. After that game, the Mountaineers host three more games at home against Penn State, Loyola (Md.) and Ohio State.
West Virginia will then travel to defending National Champion and in-state rival Marshall on Sept. 17. West Virginia will then return home to face Dayton and St. Bonaventure before opening conference play.
In what will be West Virginia’s last season in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), conference play will feature six games, with three being at home. The first game comes on Sept. 30, at home against Akron.
The Mountaineers will then spend its next four matches away from home. West Virginia will travel to play Lehigh, followed by two conference matches against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. The Mountaineers will then close out its road trip facing Kentucky.
After those four games, West Virginia returns home to play Elon and Georgia State, before traveling to face Georgia Southern on Oct. 31.
West Virginia will close out conference play, and its regular season slate at home against Bowling Green on Nov. 4.
