MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia basketball program got some good news on Wednesday afternoon when Shaker Heights forward Esa Ahmad was cleared by the NCAA to enroll, according to his father.

“He’s IN! NCAA just notified the staff,” his father Ibby said. “He’ll be on campus Sunday.”

Ahmad confirmed his arrival to Morgantown via Twitter.

The four-star recruit had been finishing up his coursework in Cleveland, but is now ready to start his collegiate career with the Mountaineers.

Ahmad had a number of major Division-I programs after him, such as Ohio State, Oregon and Wisconsin. But he ultimately chose WVU.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward was named the 2015 Associated Press Division-I-All-Ohio boys basketball Player of the Year. He averaged 25.3 points per game in his senior season with the Red Raiders.

Ahmad is a skilled forward with good size and is also a good athlete. He can finish through contact on the break. Ahmad has an impressive basketball IQ. He gets the ball to open players and is always aware of what is happening around him on the court.

The only player left to enroll at WVU from the 2015 class is  Williston (N.D.) State College guard Teyvon Myers to complete the 2015 class.
