WVU Recruiting: In-State Talent Receiving National Attention

pitts dailymail

2017 football recruit  Derrek Pitts is making a name for himself while playing outside linebacker at South Charleston High School.  He is beginning to receive the attention of several major college programs.

In February, Pitts received his biggest offer at the time from Auburn. But the Mountaineers turned that around when they gave Pitts his fifth major college offer. Pitts was attending the WVU Junior Day when the coaches extended an offer that he had been hoping to receive.

The talented 6’3″ 190 lb Pitts currently holds offers from Clemson, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Auburn and WVU. Although he is playing OLB at the high school level, he is projected to be a defensive back in college. With his height, speed and nose for the ball,  he will likely be able to have his pick of schools to attend.

Pitts is one of the top players in the state of West Virginia, which is starting to see it’s high school football talent level rise enough to merit national attention. He is expected to take his time in making a decision as his recruiting picks up, but the offer by the Mountaineers puts WVU recruiting in a great position going forward.
