WVU Releases Uniforms for Guaranteed Rate Bowl

The West Virginia Mountaineers have announced their uniform combination for the Guaranteed Rate Bowl against Minnesota on Tuesday evening.

The Mountaineers (6-6) will be wearing blue helmets, white jerseys and gold pants.

This is West Virginia’s “traditional” road look, as it was worn for most road matchups during the Don Nehlen era (1980-2000).

The Mountaineers have brought this combination out once this season, when they wore them in a 29-17 victory at TCU back in October.

WVU’s opponent, Minnesota, will be wearing their all-maroon look. The helmet features their block “M” on one side, but the other side of the helmet will have a gopher decal.

WVU has made four bowls in the last five seasons, and the list of prior bowl game uniform combinations are as follows:

  • 2020 AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Army- Blue helmets (American flag decals), blue jerseys, blue pants
  • 2018 Camping World Bowl vs. Syracuse- White helmets, white jerseys, blue pants
  • 2017 Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Utah- Gold helmets, blue jerseys, gold pants
  • 2016 Russell Athletic Bowl vs. Miami- Blue helmets, white jerseys, white pants

The Guaranteed Rate Bowl featuring the Mountaineers and Golden Gophers will kick off on Tuesday, Dec. 28, from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
