MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Oct. 27, 2020) – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team was once again placed No. 6 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s National Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers have won four consecutive matches and are coming off a 1-0 win at Oklahoma on Oct. 23. WVU has now been ranked in the top 10 in all six editions of the poll this season.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, only teams competing in the fall were considered for the poll. The number of teams appearing in each ranking is also lower due to the number of teams competing, resulting in a top-15 poll this season.
Once again, North Carolina (7-0) tops the rankings this week, followed by No. 2 Florida State (6-0) and No. 3 Clemson (5-2). TCU (6-0-1) is up to No. 4, ahead of No. 5 Duke (5-2-2) in the top 5. Following WVU, Arkansas (5-1) comes in at No. 7, with Texas A&M (4-1), South Carolina (5-1) and Virginia (5-2-1) rounding out the top 10.
Two more Big 12 programs are ranked this week, as Kansas (4-2) sits No. 11, while Oklahoma State (4-2-1) was slotted at No. 12.
West Virginia (6-1, 6-1 Big 12) is back in Morgantown for its final home match of the fall on Friday, Oct. 30, against the 11th-ranked Jayhawks. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
