MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Jan. 25, 2021) – The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 4 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll. This week’s rankings are based on NCAA Team Selection Rankings, which are comprised of a squad’s top-three scores earned at three different venues this season.
Currently, WVU has only two scores for the season. West Virginia opened its 2021 home season with a 4712-4661 win over Ohio State on Saturday. The Mountaineers swept the Buckeyes in both disciplines, winning smallbore, 2334-2308, and air rifle, 2378-2353.
TCU sits at No. 1 this week, followed by Kentucky at No. 2. Ole Miss ranks No. 3, and Alaska sits at No. 5.
Nebraska ranks No. 6, Air Force ranks No. 7 and Memphis ranks No. 8. Army and Murray State round out the top 10 respectively.
Looking ahead, the Mountaineers will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for a rematch against Ohio State on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. ET. The match will be held at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range, the location of the 2021 NCAA Championships.
