WVU’s Noel Devine to have his high school jersey retired

Noel Devine will be back under the lights on the football field this Friday night.  This time, the fans will be celebrating something a little different.

North Fort Myers High School, where Devine played from 2003-2006, is retiring Devine’s jersey during halftime of their Sept 4 game against rival Fort Myers.

The #7 jersey will go down in history in his beloved ‘239’, and it will be in good company. Devine joins the ranks of ‘Prime Time’ Deion Sanders & ‘The Freak’ Jevon Kearse in the North Fort Myers High School Hall of Fame.

“It is an honor & a privilege,” Devine wrote on his Facebook page.

Devine scored 92 touchdowns, a Lee County record, in his high school career. He is also the all-time leading rusher for the county.

Devine is currently training in the Southwest Florida area – holding camps and combines for the local youth.

In case you forgot (or are too young to remember) Devine was one of the original YouTube highlight sensations back in 2006. Take a look.
