WVU’s opener against Eastern Kentucky may still happen

The Ohio Valley Conference suspended fall sports on Thursday but according to Yahoo’s Pete Thamel, West Virginia’s matchup against Eastern Kentucky could still be on.

Thamel tweeted Friday that the presidents of the Ohio Valley Conference voted to allow four non-conference games this season, as well as a seven-game conference slate.

Eastern Kentucky is slated to play the Mountaineers at Milan Puskar Stadium on Sept. 12.

Recently the NCAA announced that it would not conduct a fall championship this year for FCS teams because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
