WVU’s Trickett Still in Limbo

WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen was asked this evening during his first Liberty Bowl press conference about the status of Senior QB Clint Trickett. Holgorsen’s response was one of uncertainty stating, “”He gave it everything he’s got this year, he’s in limbo right now and I don’t know if he’ll be able to go for us, but we will continue to monitor it.”

Trickett left the game in the second half against Kansas St on November 20th after suffering a concussion. Sophomore JUCO transfer Skyler Howard replaced Trickett in that game and started the last game of the season for the Mountaineers in a 37-24 win over the Iowa St Cyclones.

Both Skyler Howard and true freshman William Crest have been splitting reps with the offensive in bowl preparation. However, if Trickett is unable to go Howard will get the nod in Memphis on December 29th against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Howard has completed 36 of 65 pass attempts for 483 yards, 5 TD’s, and 0 INT’s this season in relief of Trickett.
