MORGANTOWN, W.Va.–West Virginia baseball star Braden Zarbnisky signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
He missed the 2019 season due to an injury but was having a stellar 2020 campaign for the Mountaineers before the season was cut short. He was leading the Big 12 with a .431 batting average and 13 steals.
Zarbnisky had 28 hits, including three doubles and two triples, while batting in nine runs. He also made four appearances on the mound, striking out 8 batters in 4.2 innings pitched.
During his four seasons at WVU, the Marietta, Ga.native finished with a .304 batting clip and an ERA of 3.58.
