West Virginia right-handed pitcher Jacob Watters has been selected in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics.
Watters, a 6-foot-4, 230 pound junior from Rocky Gap, Virginia, was West Virginia’s go-to guy on Friday night this year.
Watters threw 59.1 innings, striking out 75 hitters, while walking 41. Watters also gave up 41 earned runs this year, finishing the year with a 3-7 record. Watters has a good fastball-slider combination, reaching the upper 90’s with his fastball, before breaking off a slider in the mid-80’s.
Watters was selected with the 124th overall pick, in the 4th round by the Athletics.
