West Virginia track and field athlete Ceili McCabe and football athlete Zach Frazier are the two candidates for the 2021-2022 Big 12 Athlete of the Year.

McCabe, a redshirt-freshman from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was the first ever Mountaineer to win the Big 12 Cross Country Championship. McCabe, had an undefeated regular season in cross country and claimed the Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year and Big 12 Runner of the Year titles.

Frazier, a sophomore from Fairmont, West Virginia, is a team captain on the West Virginia football team. Frazier was named as a Second Team All-American by AFCA and Walter Camp. Frazier started every game last season and went 10 games without allowing a sack or having a missed assignment.

The winners of the Big 12 Athlete of the Year will be announced on July 25.
