AJ Rodriguez named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

West Virginia junior midfielder AJ Rodriguez has been named the Big 12’s offensive player of the week, announced by the league on Tuesday.

Rodriguez scored her first career brace in a comeback win over the Oklahoma Sooners on Sunday, October 23rd. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Rodriguez provided the next two goals in the match to even the score. The Mountaineers would go on to win the match 3-2.

Rodriguez is the first Mountaineer to earn this honor since Alina Stahl did on March 29th, 2021. Rodriguez is the third Mountaineer to earn a Big 12 weekly honor this season.

The two goals also put Rodriguez in the team lead for goals this season, with five goals. She was also the second Mountaineer to score two goals in a match this season, with Lauren Segalla also scoring a brace on September 25th against Iowa State.
