The NFL playoffs are starting this weekend and seven West Virginia Mountaineers will be represented. 

Geno Smith

After being drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the NFL draft in 2013, Geno Smith has bounced around the league before finding his home in Seattle. Coming into the season as the starter, Smith threw for over 4,000 yards, 30 TD’s and 11 INT’s while leading the NFL in completion percentage at 70%. Smith led the Seahawks to a 9-8 record and will face the San Francisco 49ers in the Wildcard game on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Bruce Irvin

Joining Geno Smith on the Seattle Seahawks, Bruce Irvin returned to his long-time team this season. Irvin, now an 11-year NFL veteran, started 10 games for the Seahawks and had 3.5 sacks, 28 total tackles, 5.0 TFL and nine QB hits. 

Colton McKivitz

On the other side of the Seattle game, Colton McKivitz will be representing the Mountaineers for the San Francisco 49ers. McKivitz plays as a reserve offensive lineman for the 49ers and appeared in 13 games, with one start this season.

Kyzir White

Kyzir White was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason, and appeared in all 17 games for the Eagles, while starting eight of them. White had 110 total tackles on the season, 3.0 TFL’s, 7 PD’s and 1.5 sacks. The Philadelphia Eagles earned the number one seed in the NFC and will have a bye this weekend.

Mark Glowinski

Another Mountaineers signed by a new team last offseason, Glowinski was signed by the New York Giants and started in 16 games at offensive guard. The New Giants will take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 with Glowinski starting on the offensive line. 

Daryl Worley

Dayl Worley spent time on the Ravens, as well as practice squads this season, but was signed to the Ravens active roster for the playoffs. Worley appeared in 8 games for the Ravens, getting 8 tackles, 1.0 TFL and two PD’s. The Ravens will take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Jan. 15 and 8:30 p.m.

Will Grier

Will Grier has served as a backup on the Dallas Cowboys this season and has not seen any snaps, despite Cowboys starting QB Dak Prescott being plagued by injuries. The Cowboys will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, Jan. 16 at 8:30 p.m.
