For the last two weeks, West Virginia baseball has been ranked by D1Baseball in their top 25 rankings. This week, they remained ranked by D1Baseball, but also entered Baseball America’s top 25.
West Virginia opened up Big 12 play this weekend, and took two of three from Kansas State on the road. In fact, WVU’s series win in Manhattan, Kansas, was the first time the road team has won a series in Big 12 play this season.
Baseball America — who had not previously ranked the Mountaineers — ranked WVU at 19th in the country. The other Big 12 teams BA has ranked include Oklahoma State (11th), Texas Tech (18th), and Texas (20th).
D1Baseball has ranked WVU each of the past two weeks, and the Mountaineers remained ranked. WVU was ranked 24th in the country for the third straight week. They have Oklahoma State ranked 16th, Texas 21st, and Texas Tech ranked 22nd all ahead of West Virginia.
The Mountaineers will return home to Monongalia County Ballpark to face Kansas this weekend in Big 12 play. West Virginia plays Marshall in a mid-week game in Charleston on Wednesday.
West Virginia has played a league-high 17 games on the road, and are 12-5 in those games. At home, WVU is 8-2, and 1-0 in neutral site games. The Mountaineers are one of four Big 12 teams with 20 wins so far, with their 21-7 record being the second-best win percentage in the Big 12.
