Former West Virginia running back Tony Mathis Jr. announced today that he is transferring to Houston.
Mathis played four seasons at West Virginia and was originally recruited by Dana Holgorsen, who is now the head coach at Houston. He had 943 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns over four seasons at West Virginia.
He led the team in rushing yards last season, sharing the workload in a deep backfield with the likes of CJ Donaldson and Justin Johson Jr.
Mathis is set to join a running back room in Houston that includes the likes of Stacy Sneed and Brandon Campbell. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
West Virginia plays at Houston on October 12.
