The Big 12 is going officially going to 16 teams, adding Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah on Friday night.
The conference made the announcement late Friday evening after the Big 12 Board of Governors met to unanimously admit the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and the University of Utah.
“We are thrilled to welcome Arizona, Arizona State and Utah to the Big 12,” Commissioner Brett Yormark said. “The Conference is gaining three premier institutions both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 looks forward to working alongside their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes and administrators.”
This move comes a week after the Big 12 added Colorado, and just over a month after BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF, all officially joined the Big 12.
This move will go into effect ahead of the 2024-2025 season, meaning starting July 1, 2024, the Big 12 will have 16 members.
