The West Virginia women’s soccer team traveled to Austin tonight for a Big 12 matchup against the No. 21 ranked Texas Longhorns.

The first half of this matchup saw Texas take control early, earning their first shot on goal in the 16th minute off the foot of Lexi Missimo but WVU’s Kayza Massey came up with the save.

Missimo had another shot in the 25th minute but Massey was able to stop that one as well.

In the 37th minute WVU’s Aria Bilal had a shot on goal but was saved by the Longhorns’s Mia Justus, putting the score at 0-0 going into halftime.

The second half of this game was dominated by Texas as the Mountaineers were not able to put one shot on target.

Although the Longhorns offense were able to put shots on goal, Massey would not allow any into the back of the net, finishing the game with nine saves for the Mountaineers.

The final score of the game would prove to be a 0-0 draw.

This was a positive sign for the Mountaineer defense after conceding five goals to TCU in their 5-1 loss on Sunday.

The Mountaineers are in action again on Sunday when they travel to Houston. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN+.
