West Virginia women’s basketball was picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll.

The poll which was released on Thursday, has Texas as the preseason favorite. The four new incoming Big 12 teams finish out the poll ranked 11th-14th.

The Mountaineers are under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Kellogg. Kellogg and West Virginia return JJ Quinerly, who was named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team.

West Virginia received 80 votes in the poll, which was three more votes than TCU who was picked to finish ninth. The Mountaineers open their 2023-2024 season on Nov. 7, against Loyola at the WVU Coliseum, while their first conference game is on Dec. 30 against Kansas.
