West Virginia Football wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall and tight ends coach Blaine Stewart were
named to the 2024 AFCA 35 Under 35 Class.
The AFCA 35 Under 35 is an institute that is held annually to help train young coaches under the age of
35 that are on the rise in college football. The coaches that are accepted to the one-day event
participate in training that helps them become better and more knowledgeable coaches.
Marshall and Stewart are the first Mountaineer assistant coaches to be invited to the event since
defensive line coach Andrew Jackson was invited to the event in 2022.
Bilal Marshall is in his second stint at West Virginia in his first season as the wide receivers coach. His
first stint lasted from 2020-2021 where he was a graduate assistant working mainly with the wide
receivers.
During the 2023 season, wide receiver Devin Carter led the team in receiving yards during the regular
season with 501. Wide receiver Hudson Clement had the highest Pro Football Focus receiving grade on
the team at 76.4 as a redshirt freshman.
Blaine Stewart, the son of the late Bill Stewart, is in his first season as the tight ends coach for West
Virginia. Prior to that, he was an assistant wide receivers coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.
During the 2023 regular season, TE Kole Taylor led the team in receptions with 33 and tied for the team
lead in touchdown receptions with four. His 411 receiving yards were the most by a tight end in a single
season under Neal Brown by a wide margin.
