West Virginia Rifle was one of eight teams selected on Monday to appear in the 2024 NCAA Rifle Championship at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown on March 8-9.
The No. 1 ranked West Virginia Rifling team is hosting the championships for the first time since 2019, and the second time in program history. Last season, West Virginia finished fifth in the NCAA championship out in Akron, Ohio.
West Virginia has qualified for the NCAA championship in sixteen consecutive seasons, as well as every year under head coach Jon Hammond. West Virginia has won a nation-leading 19 national championships in its program history and will be looking to add their 20th and their first since 2017.
West Virginia is the one seed in the NCAA championships. The other teams featured there are No. 2 TCU, No. 3 Air Force, No. 4 Kentucky, No. 5 Alaska-Fairbanks, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Navy and No. 8 Nebraska.
West Virginia still has the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships hosted by Army to come on Feb. 24-25 in West Point, NY.
