MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 14, 2024) – Seven members of the West Virginia University rifle team took home a combined 15 All-America honors from the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA), as announced by the organization.

In addition, three Mountaineers took home individual honors. Freshman Griffin Lake was named the CRCA Rookie of the Year, senior Molly McGhin earned CRCA Senior of the Year honors and fifth-year Mary Tucker was named the CRCA’s Most Valuable Shooter.

Lake is the second Mountaineer and the first since Milica Babic in 2017 to earn rookie of the year honors as McGhin collects senior of the year honors for WVU for the second time in two seasons after Tucker collected the honor in 2023. 

McGhin and senior Matt Sanchez swept first-team honors across aggregate, smallbore and air rifle.

Lake and junior Gavin Barnick also claimed three all-American honors, with the pair both taking first-team marks in smallbore and second-team in air rifle. Lake added second-team honors for aggregate as Barnick claimed third-team honors.

Junior Natalie Perrin and Senior Tal Engler both added second-team honors in smallbore while Perrin also earned honorable mention honors in aggregate.

Fifth years were not eligible for All-CRCA Team honors per CRCA rules.
