Jett Strickenberger (125), Jordan Titus (141), Ty Watters (149), Peyton Hall (165) and Brody Conley (174) will represent West Virginia in the 2024 NCAA Championships in Kansas City.
Strickenberger, a Junior transfer from Northwest Kansas Technical College, won a JUCO national championship last season but will be making his debut at the DI championships this season. Strickenberger placed third at the Big 12 championships and is seeded No. 19 for nationals where he’ll face off against the two-time qualifier No. 14-seed Nico Provo of Stanford.
Titus, the redshirt sophomore is making his second consecutive trip to nationals after receiving one of the 47 at-large bids. Titus was a Midlands champion in 2024 and earned himself the No. 13 seed at nationals where he’s matched up against the No. 20-seeded Tom Crook of Virginia Tech, who he beat in the semi-finals of Midlands by a score of 9-6.
Watters, a true freshman has the highest seed of any Mountaineer in the championships after winning an individual title at the Big 12 Championships, becoming the first true freshman to do so in program history. He’s the No. 6 seed and is matched up against the No. 28-seeded Logan Gioffre of Missouri, who he beat inside the WVU Coliseum in a Big 12 Dual by a score of 6-1.
Hall, a senior and returning All-American is making his fourth trip to nationals. He’s the No. 9 seed at 165 and will face the No.24-seeded Stony Buell of Purdue, who is making his first appearance at the tournament.
Conley, another West Virginia wrestler making his first trip to the NCAA championships. The redshirt freshman is seeded at No. 20 and will wrestle the No. 13 seed Justin McCoy of Virginia in the first round, who was a 2023 ACC champion at 165.
In history, West Virginia has had five individual national champions: Scott Collins (1991), Dean Morrison (1994) and Greg Jones (2002,2004 and 2005).
The three-day tournament begins Thursday at Noon EST and will conclude on Saturday evening. Live stats will be available on trackwrestling.com throughout the event.
