MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 26, 2024) – Junior guard JJ Quinerly of the West Virginia University women’s basketball team has been selected as a Region 3 finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division I All-America Team, announced Tuesday.
The WBCA selection committee will choose the 10-member Coaches’ All-America team from 52 finalists. The 2024 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America team will be announced Thursday, April 4.
Last week, Quinerly was selected as the 30th All-America selection in WVU program history after earning Honorable Mention status on this year’s Associated Press (AP) All-America Team. The junior is the first All-American for West Virginia since Kysre Gondrezick in 2021 (AP/WBCA).
In 33 contests this season, Quinerly led West Virginia in scoring 23 times and produced 19.8 points per contest, the best mark on the team. The junior guard has averaged 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.7 assists throughout the 2023-2024 season. Her 652 points this season are the seventh most by a player in program history.
Quinerly was named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year while picking up All-Big 12 First Team and Defensive Team honors for the second time in her career this season. She is also a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and on the WBCA Player of the Year Watchlist.
